Set Girls
Do you think expectations for teen girls are set too high these days?
The whole low self esteem thing!
These days, there is no time to just enjoy being young. TV, magazines and music videos place a lot of pressure on girls to look and behave as though they were women. (Sigh) Whatever happened to the good ole days when girls were playing with dolls, active in the Girl Scouts and reading Judy Blume books well into their teens? Today, we're faced with girls having SEX as young as 11! (I've seen it with my own eyes)
Self esteem is something that starts within the home. If a girl is affirmed by her parents from birth, she should have few self esteem issues. I "teach" my two daughters to love themselves first and appreciate the things that make them who they are. They receive plenty of affection from home so they wont have to seek it elsewhere. So far we've had no issues.
