Leather Medicine
What causes face to swell, feel like leather, and numb to the touch?
My friend has been to drs. and tried alternative medicine but so far no one has been able to help her.
Her skin has been dry, peeling, cracking, hurts, red and burning, feels like leather or sand paper and numb to the touch.
It seems like her face is getting worse and that these symptoms are happening more frequently with her. Whatever she eats seems to affect her face.
Does anyone have an idea of what can be causing her symptoms? If so, please share.
Thanks for trying to narrow things down...she says she doesn't use any creams on her face because she's afraid to. She doesn't eat dairy products.
Sounds like some kind of an allergic reaction. Maybe it is some type of skin cream she is using or soap. The fact that it is only on her face makes me believe it has to be something she is putting on her face, otherwise she would break out all over her body. If that is not the case then it is an internal problem and since I've never experienced anything like that I wouldn't have a clue. I'd tell her to stop using any kind of chemicals on her face, even soap, because the soap may be aggravating the condition, just use water for a while and see what happens. She might want to also try eliminating dairy products from her diet. Some people begin to have reactions to dairy later in life. It could even be something in the water, try drinking bottled water. I almost want to say it is a thyroid problem or vitamin deficiency, but doctors would have caught that so IDK.
