Gauging ears... New 8g earring hurts?
So I've been stretching for a while now with stainless steel captive beads and crescents. I go up one size every month, so it's been about 5 months (from 18 to 16, 14, 12, 10, and now). I've always encountered some discomfort, but this time is different. I put in an organic buffalo horn spiral in my left ear, and it hurt like hell going in. It's been in for 3 days, and it doesn't hurt now unless I touch it... and I'm just wondering if this is normal. I'd really like to take it out and clean it with some saltwater.. but I don't know if thats a good idea.
The other ear is stubborn... the earring wouldn't go in at all. Even with soap, lube, saltwater, warmth, and extra care. It just won't do it. I am 100% certain my ears were healed before stretching again... what's going on?

Dang...i just got an 18 gauge probably a month ago. Im gunna wait a couple more months before I even go to an 16 gauge.
