Kachina Doll
what type of kachina doll is this?
We were given a kachina doll. It seems it might be an imatation. However, we would still like to know if it has any meaning. It has a Black face with eyes that bug out. It has brown feathers all around the head and white fur down the back of the head. It seems to be dancing and has a rattle in the right hand and 2 feathers in the left. On it's body it almost looks to have war paint in the shape of a circle on the back front and both arms.It has white fur around both feet and under the loin cloth. The loin cloth is beautifully decorated. If anybody has any info we'd really appreciate it.
It sounds like a HOPI indian Kachina. Look up the Kachina dolls of Arizona, and you will find out which dancer it is, or what it is dancing for.
