Hunting Wolf
what are the good and bad things about wolf hunting?
Im wrting an essay about the good and bad things about wolf hunting. I am totally against wolf hunting but i have no idea what the good things (if any) are. Please leave some points here
thanks
Also if woilves are completly wiped out from one area all the other animals will either die off or move away.Look at Yellowstone for example when wolves were wiped out then. I know this because i was told by wolf biologists
1. Wolf hunting can be used as a management tool as Jim said. Keep this in mind, Ranchers tend to dislike wolves. If their population raises too high then the ranchers get upset. The result is a public backlash against the wolf (such as the ones occurring in areas where wolves have been reintroduced). Such a backlash is much more of a threat to the wolf than controlled legal hunting.
2. Controlled hunting generates public awareness and appreciation for the wolf (though perhaps you have to be a hunter to realize how much hunters tend to love nature and wildlife). Such an appreciation will encourage further reintroductions elsewhere.
3. Controlled hunting has massive economic benefits for the areas where the hunting takes place and even elsewhere.
4. Money from the taxes and licenses of controlled hunts can be used to provide more habitat for both wolves and other animals. This in turn can reduce human/wolf conflicts by providing the wolves with 'better' feeding grounds than those of the ranchers livestock herds.
5. Hunting can be used to control livestock predation thus reducing human wolf conflicts.
Conclusion: properly controlled hunting can actually increase the number of wolves while reducing human wolf conflicts.
Too many people fail to realize that man is the apex predator of the planet. We have an enormous impact on nature. We need to use that impact not ignore it. Mankind is part of nature not separate from it!
