Scarce Book
A good book about the Spartan Agoge?
Before you say anything, yes, after seeing "300" I want to read more about the Spartan culture, specifically the Agoge. Can anyone reccomend a good book. Information is scarce on the internet.

This is the book you want:
"The Gymnasium of Virtue: Education and Culture in Ancient Sparta" by Nigel M. Kennell published in 1995 by the University of North Carolina Press is the first book devoted exclusively to the study of education in ancient Sparta.
The downside to this book is it may be difficult to acquire, although it can be found on-line. It might help to check out your local library.
An easier book to acquire would be "The Spartans: The World of the Warrior-Heroes of Ancient Greece" by Paul Cartledge. This is a solid book, covers the Agoge but is not the sole focus of the book. On the plus side you can get it on-line for around $10.
