Ash Splint
Baskets from the North east and south west!!?
Okay so i am doing a powerpoint on indians of the north east and south west. Well i don't know this one question we need to answer: Can the Indian’s still find the materials to work with today? Well South west Indian’s made their baskets out of bundled pine needles or river cane wicker and North Eastern Indian’s made their baskets out of pounded ash splints or braided sweet grass. According to the photos (scroll down), they still make baskets out of the same materials, although the text mentions that they also use other materials, in order to adapt to new locations and lifestyles:
